Fried Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 2/3 c. sifted flour
    1 2/3 c. whole wheat flour
    2 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 1/4 c. water
    oil for deep frying
Preparation
    Combine flour, whole wheat flour and salt in bowl.
    Mix in shortening with fingers.
    Stir in water with fork until mixture forms dough.
    Shape into ball.
    Let rest for 30 minutes. Knead on floured surface for 5 minutes or until smooth.
    Roll 1/8-inch thick and cut in 3-inch circles.
    Deep fry a few at a time in 365\u00b0 oil for 30 seconds or until puffed.
    Turn and fry 1 minute longer. Drain on paper towel.
    Yields 4 dozen.
