Ingredients

1 c. raisins
1 c. water
1 c. soft shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
3/4 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. oatmeal
Preparation

Cook raisins and water together until about 5 tablespoons liquid remains. Drain and cool liquid. Preheat oven to 375\u00b0. Mix shortening, sugar and eggs together thoroughly.
Stir in the cool raisin liquid and vanilla. Stir dry ingredients together and stir in oatmeal and cooked raisins. Drop by spoon about 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 4 to 5 dozen.
