Ingredients

1 c. butter (creamed)
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream butter.
Add sugar, creaming until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition.
Stir in vanilla.
Sift together dry ingredients; add gradually to creamed mixture.
Drop by spoons onto cookie sheet.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 6 to 8 minutes until brownish.
