Overnight Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. brown sugar
    1 c. butter or shortening
    6 c. flour
    2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped maraschino cherries
    1 c. white sugar
    4 eggs, beaten
    2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. nuts (do not chop)
Preparation
    Cream sugars and shortening. Add eggs and mix well. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Stir in by hand the nuts and cherries. Form into rolls and wrap in wax paper. Let stand in refrigerator overnight. Slice and sprinkle with granulated sugar. Bake at 350\u00b0 until lightly browned, 8 minutes on bottom shelf and 2 minutes on top shelf.
