Ingredients

3/4 c. butter or shortening
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1 tsp. soda (in milk)
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. raisins
1 c. nuts
Preparation

Sift dry ingredients and set aside.
Beat eggs, sugar and shortening until fluffy.
Add milk, dry ingredients, raisins and nuts.
Mix only until moistened.
Pour into a greased jelly roll pan (12 x 17-inch) or whatever will produce a 1 or 2-inch cookie. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
Ice with a thin layer of chocolate frosting or coffee frosting while still warm.
Produces a brownie-like cookie.
