Ingredients

3/4 c. shortening (your choice)
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
2 level tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. each: cloves, ginger, salt and cinnamon
Preparation

Mix dry ingredients; add wet ingredients, including melted shortening or oil.
Chill in refrigerator.
Form in 1-inch balls, roll in sugar and place on cookie sheet.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 375\u00b0.
