Tennessee Pumpkin Bread - cooking recipe

1 2/3 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/3 c. shortening
1 1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 c. canned mashed pumpkin
1/3 c. water
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
Preparation

Grease regular loaf pan.
Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Cream the shortening, sugar and vanilla.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.
Stir in pumpkin.
Add nuts.
Blend in dry ingredients in 4 additions.
Alternate with water until smooth. Turn batter in prepared pan.
Bake in preheated oven at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean.
