Ingredients

1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 beaten egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 (10 oz.) jar maraschino cherries, drained (save juice)
Preparation

Beat butter and sugar.
Add eggs and vanilla; beat until fluffy.
Add dry ingredients.
Shape dough into 1-inch ball. Press down center of ball with thumb; place a cherry in indentation.
Spoon 1 teaspoon topping over each cookie, covering cherry.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
