Ingredients

2 egg whites
pinch of salt
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
2/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. chocolate chips
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0 while mixing mixture, then turn oven off. Beat egg whites.
Add cream of tartar and salt.
Beat until stiff. Add sugar, two tablespoons at a time, beating after each addition. Stir in vanilla, nuts and chips.
Drop by teaspoon onto cookie sheets lined with aluminum foil.
Put in oven (make sure heat is off!).
Do not open oven door for at least 8 hours.
Carefully remove cookies from foil.
Makes 40 to 50 cookies.
