Ingredients

2 c. granulated sugar
1 c. vegetable shortening
2 eggs
1 Tbsp. honey
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon extract
4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. soda
extra 1/2 c. flour
Preparation

Cream together sugar, shortening, eggs, honey, vanilla and lemon.
Mix buttermilk and teaspoon nutmeg; set aside.
Sift together 4 cups flour, baking powder and salt.
Alternate, pouring buttermilk mixture and flour mixture into first mixture.
Mix well.
Refrigerate overnight.
Next day, use extra 1/2 cup flour to roll out dough.
Cut with cookie cutter 1/2-inch thick.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
