English Muffin Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. whole wheat flour
    1 c. white flour
    2 Tbsp. yeast
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    2 c. milk
    1/2 c. water
    3 c. white flour
Preparation
    Combine the first 6 ingredients.
    Heat together the milk and water until very warm.
    Add liquid to the dry mix and beat well. Stir in 3 cups of white flour to make a stiff batter.
    Spoon into three 1-pound coffee cans which have been greased and sprinkled with corn meal.
    (Pam simplifies greasing.)
    Let rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.
    (The loaves should be extended above the top of the cans no more than 1 inch.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
    Remove from tins and cool on a rack.
    Bread should sound hollow when rapped with knuckles.
