Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 c. light molasses
1 Tbsp. vinegar
6 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
2 eggs, beaten
Preparation

Combine sugar, shortening, molasses and vinegar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook 2 minutes.
Cool.
Sift together flour, salt, soda, baking powder and spices.
Add eggs to cooled molasses mixture.
Add dry ingredients and mix well.
Chill.
