Ginger Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. dark molasses
    2 tsp. ginger
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    2 Tbsp. boiling water
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 3/4 c. flour
Preparation
    In a saucepan, combine sugar, shortening, molasses and ginger. Boil 1 minute.
    Remove from heat.
    Add baking soda dissolved in boiling water.
    Stir until foamy, then add well beaten egg.
    Sift cinnamon, salt and flour together.
    Add to molasses mixture.
    Mix well. Divide dough.
    Roll on floured board to 1/4-inch thick.
    Cut into desired shapes.
    Bake on greased sheet at 375\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
