Jean'S Date Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. chopped nuts
    1 c. chopped dates
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. flour
    3/4 c. boiling water
Preparation
    Place nuts, dates, baking soda, salt and shortening in bowl. Pour boiling water over ingredients.
    Let set.
    Mix eggs, vanilla, sugar and flour together.
    Add to date, nut mixture.
    Mix only enough to combine all ingredients.
    Put into greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch pan and bake for one hour in 350\u00b0 oven.
