Cherry Icebox Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. oleo, softened
    1 c. sugar
    5 c. plain flour
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. nuts
    1 c. brown sugar, packed
    3 eggs, slightly beaten
    1 tsp. baking soda
    4 oz. each red and green glazed cherries, chopped
Preparation
    Cream oleo and sugars, adding eggs and mix well.
    Add vanilla. Sift flour and soda, using 1 cup of the mixture to coat the fruit and nuts.
    Add remaining flour to the sugar mixture and mix well. Chill dough so it will handle easily.
    Then divide into 4 equal portions and shape into rolls.
    Wrap in waxed paper and foil. Freeze until ready to bake.
    Cut into thin slices and bake at 350\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown.
    If they are sliced too thick, they will not be crisp, but like a cake.
