Ingredients

4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 lb. butter (2 sticks)
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. milk
toppings (sprinkles, colored sugars, nuts, coconut, etc.)
Preparation

Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in bowl.
Mix butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla; beat until creamy.
Add milk, then flour mixture gradually, until blended.
Refrigerate dough until easy to handle.
Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Roll dough on lightly floured surface (roll thin for crisp cookies, thick for softer cookies).
Cut with floured cookie cutters.
Place on greased cookie sheet.
Brush cookies with milk or egg white; sprinkle with toppings.
Bake for approximately 12 minutes.
