Ingredients

1 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg
3 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. milk
Preparation

Cream sugar and shortening.
Add egg and vanilla.
Sift flour and baking powder.
Add flour alternately with milk.
Add as much of remaining 1/2 cup flour as needed for dough to be rolled. Refrigerate overnight.
Roll out and cut into shapes.
Brush with water and sprinkle with sugar before baking at 375\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
