Brown Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 eggs
    1 c. dates
    1 c. pecans
    4 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    2 c. boiling water
Preparation
    Cut up dates.
    Sprinkle soda over dates.
    Add boiling water. Let stand and cool some.
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Add eggs, then flour and salt.
    Add vanilla and nuts.
    Add date mixture and mix well.
    Fill cans half full and bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 to 60 minutes. Do not grease cans.
    Batter will not stick.
    Wrap in foil while very hot.
    This makes 6 cans.
    (Use any tin can, such as a green bean or corn can.)
