German Onion Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. warm water
    1 pkg. dry yeast
    2 Tbsp. soft shortening
    2 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    3 Tbsp. instant minced onions
    3 c. sifted bread flour
Preparation
    In large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
    Add shortening, salt, sugar, onions and 1 1/2 cups flour.
    Beat for 2 minutes on medium speed or 300 strokes by hand.
    Scrape sides of bowl often.
    Add remaining flour; blend with spoon until smooth, scraping batter from sides of bowl.
    Cover with cloth; let rise in warm place until double in bulk (about 30 minutes).
    Stir down batter by beating about 25 strokes.
    Spread evenly into greased loaf pan.
    Batter will be sticky; flour hands and pat top and sides to smooth.
    Let rise again to double in bulk, about 45 minutes.
    Bake for 45 to 50 minutes in a 375\u00b0 oven.
    Remove from pan at once.
    Cool away from draft.
