Lemon Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lemon
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Preparation

Grate lemon rind; squeeze juice.
Cream sugar, shortening and rind.
Add beaten eggs.
Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk.
Fold in nuts.
Bake in 9 x 5-inch loaf pan 1 hour at 350\u00b0.
When baked, turn out onto platter and while hot, brush with juice of lemon, combined with 1/4 cup sugar.
(Add sugar to juice and stir occasionally while bread is baking.)
Cool before slicing.
