Holiday Cranberry Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt
    juice and grated rind of 1 orange
    2 Tbsp. Crisco
    1 egg
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 c. raw cranberries
Preparation
    Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
    In separate bowl, combine juice, rind, Crisco and enough boiling water to total 3/4 cup.
    Add well beaten egg.
    Blend liquid into dry ingredients, stir only until flour is dampened. Add nuts and cranberries.
    Pour into greased loaf pan.
    For well rounded loaf, push batter up into corners, leaving center slightly hollowed.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 60 to 70 minutes.
    Makes 1 loaf.
