Bread - cooking recipe

6 Tbsp. mandarin peel
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. butter
1 egg
2 c. milk
4 c. white flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Preheat oven to 325\u00b0.
Butter 2 loaf pans.
Chop mandarin peel and place in enough water to barely cover.
Cook over low heat for 15 to 20 minutes.
Add more water if necessary.
Add 1 cup sugar and boil for 10 minutes, until thick and syrupy.
Cream the butter with 1/2 cup sugar, add the egg and milk.
Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add to the batter, beat well.
Add the cooked mandarin peel and syrup.
Put in prepared pans.
Bake 40 to 50 minutes.
Remove from pans and cool on racks.
Makes 2 small loaves.
