Date Nut Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3/4 c. chopped nuts
1 c. chopped dates
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. boiling water
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. flour
Preparation

Combine nuts, dates, soda, and salt in a mixing bowl. Add shortening in boiling water. Allow this mixture to stand 15 minutes. Stir to blend. Beat eggs slightly and add vanilla. Stir in sugar and flour and add to date mixture. DO NOT OVER MIX. Bake in loaf pan at 350 for 1 hour.
