Gum Drop Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. gumdrops (it turns out prettier if you remove the black ones)
1 lb. white raisins
4 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. applesauce
1 c. hot water
2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Sift dry ingredients together.
Cream shortening and sugar, add vanilla, then eggs.
Mix applesauce and water and add to creamed mixture gradually with flour mixture.
Stir in gumdrops, raisins and nuts.
Bake in 2 greased loaf pans 1 1/2 to 2 hours in 325\u00b0 oven.
