Ingredients

3/4 c. lard (oleo)
1 c. sugar (1/2 brown, 1/2 white)
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. each: cloves, cinnamon and ginger
Preparation

Mix together first 3 ingredients, then stir in the molasses. Then add remaining ingredients.
Refrigerate dough 1 hour.
Shape into small balls and roll in granulated sugar.
Place on cookie sheet.
Flatten with glass base into circles.
They crack on top when baked.
Bake in a 375\u00b0 oven.
