Chilli Cheese Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    1 finely chopped onion
    4 finely chopped green onions
    1 clove minced garlic
    1 (10 oz.) can tomatoes and green chilies
    1 (4 oz.) can chopped green chilies
    2 c. water, divided
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 (13 oz.) can evaporated milk
    2 c. (8 oz.) Monterey Jack cheese
    1 c. (4 oz.) shredded American cheese
    1/2 c. butter
Preparation
    Heat oil in large saucepan.
    Add onion, green onions and garlic.
    Cook until translucent.
    Add tomatoes and green chilies, 1 cup water and seasonings.
    Simmer 15 minutes.
