Yeast Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 pkg. yeast
    1/2 c. warm water
    1 3/4 c. milk or potato water
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    4 1/2 plus c. flour
Preparation
    Mix yeast and warm water until yeast dissolves.
    Add 1 3/4 cups of milk (or potato water), sugar, salt and shortening.
    Mix in flour until mixture leaves the side of the bowl.
    Remove bread mixture to a floured surface and knead until it is elastic.
    Put dough into a 3 or 4 quart greased bowl, cover and let the dough rise for 1 hour.
    Punch dough down, cover and allow it to rise for 30 minutes more.
