Ingredients

1 c. light molasses
4 1/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. ginger
3/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/3 c. water
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 c. lard
3/4 c. sugar
Preparation

Mix all together; chill.
Roll 1/4-inch thick.
Use a 4-inch cookie cutter or make balls and flatten with fork.
Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375\u00b0 for 9 minutes.
Yields 2 dozen large cookies.
