Michigan Rock Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3/4 c. shortening or margarine
    3 eggs
    3 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. baking soda
    2 Tbsp. hot water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 lb. diced grapes
    1/2 lb. diced dates
    1 c. finely chopped nuts (optional)
Preparation
    Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Cream sugar and shortening.
    Add eggs, flour, cinnamon and baking soda (dissolved in hot water).
    Mix well.
    Fold in grapes, dates and nuts.
    Drop by spoonful onto greased sheet.
    Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
