Sugarplum Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening (part butter or margarine, softened
    3/4 c. granulated sugar
    1 egg
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3/4 c. maraschino cherries, cut into small pieces
    glaze
    decorator sugars
Preparation
    Heat
    oven to 375\u00b0.
    In a large bowl, blend shortening, granulated
    sugar, egg, flour, baking powder, salt and vanilla on low
    speed.
    (Two to 3 tablespoons of milk may be added if necessary).
    Using
    1
    level
    teaspoonful
    of
    dough for each, shape
    into
    ball around a cherry piece.
    Place 2-inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.
    Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
    Cool. Dip top
    of each cookie into glaze.
    Roll cookie in decorator sugar. Makes 7 to 8 dozen.
