Boston Brown Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. chopped dates
    1 stick butter/margarine
    2 tsp. baking soda
    2 c. boiling water
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 slightly beaten eggs
    4 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    In large bowl put dates, butter and baking soda.
    Add boiling water and mix well allowing to cool completely.
    Add eggs, sugar, salt, flour and vanilla and beat well.
    Fold in nuts.
    Half fill greased cans (use 6 to 7 1-pound vegetable cans).
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes or until knife inserted comes out clean.
