Orange Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    zest of 3 oranges, sliced fine*
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    3 c. flour
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 egg, beaten
    1 c. milk
    1 c. slivered nuts
Preparation
    Boil the orange
    zest
    in
    a
    little salted water until tender; drain.
    Combine sugar, water and prepared orange zest. Boil for 10
    minutes; cool.
    Sift dry ingredients and add egg, milk, nuts and
    sugar-zest\tsyrup.\tPlace
    in
    a
    greased
    5 x 9-inch loaf pan
    and
    bake\tat
    300\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
    Increase heat to 350\u00b0 and bake for 60 minutes.
    Test with toothpick for doneness.
