Ingredients

1/2 c. butter or margarine
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg yolk
1 Tbsp. milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. almond extract
1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 slightly beaten egg white
1 c. chopped blended almonds
red and green maraschino cherries, halved
Preparation

Thoroughly cream together butter and sugar.
Add egg yolk, milk, salt and almond extract; beat well.
Stir in flour.
Chill until firm.
When chilled, form into 1-inch balls.
Dip in egg white and roll in almonds.
Place each ball on cookie sheet.
Press a cherry half in center of each cookie.
Bake in oven at 325\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
