Ingredients

2 c. brown sugar
1 c. lard
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
1 c. milk and cream
2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. baking powder
5 to 5 1/2 c. flour
Preparation

Cream sugar and lard well; add eggs, milk and cream.
Dissolve soda in a little hot water.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt and add to first mixture.
Chill a few hours or overnight.
Roll out and sprinkle with sugar.
Cut out with favorite cutters.
Bake at 375\u00b0
until nice and brown.
Yields 4 dozen.
