Ingredients

1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. baking cocoa
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 (10 oz.) jars maraschino cherries
6 oz. chocolate chips
1/2 c. sweetened condensed milk
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar together. Add egg and vanilla; mix well. Combine flour, cocoa, salt, baking powder and baking soda; add to above mixture and mix well. Shape cookie dough into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press down in center of each cookie with your thumb. Drain cherries, reserving cherry juice. Place a cherry in the thumb indention of each cookie. Melt chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk over low heat. When chocolate chips are melted add 4 tsp. of cherry juice and stir well. Frost each uncooked cookie with approximately 1 tablespoon of frosting. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes.
