White Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c milk
3 Tbsp. sugar
2 1/2 tsp. salt
6 Tbsp. shortening
1 pkg. yeast
1 c. warm water
6 c. flour
Preparation

Scald 1 cup milk then stir in sugar, salt, and shortening. Dissolve yeast in water.
Cool mixture of milk.
Blend with yeast and add 3 cups flour.
Beat until smooth, stir in remaining flour. Turn out on lightly floured board.
Knead until smooth and elastic.
Place in greased bowl, brush with shortening.
Cover, let rise in warm, draft free place until doubled in bulk (approximately 2 hours).
Punch and turn out again onto board. Divide in half.
Let rest 15 to 20 minutes.
Shape and place in greased bread pan.
Let rise again approximately 1 hour.
Bake at 400\u00b0 for 50 minutes.
To sweeten, add raisins to original dough recipe.
