Ingredients

1/2 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. butter, softened
2 tsp. grated orange peel
2 egg yolks
1 tsp. salt
1 egg white, beaten
red and green candied cherries, chopped
Preparation

In a large bowl, mix sugar with the next 5 ingredients on low speed of mixer until just mixed.
Increase speed to medium and beat 4 minutes, occasionally scraping sides of bowl with a spatula (mixture may look dry).
Preheat oven to 400\u00b0.
Take a heaping teaspoonful of dough at a time and roll into a 6-inch rope.
Place each dough rope on cookie sheet in a circle, crossing ends over. Brush cookies with egg white and sprinkle on some sugar. Decorate with red and green cherries. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until light golden brown. Allow wreaths to cool on cookie sheet. Store in a tightly covered container.
