Spoon Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. cornmeal
1 Tbsp. butter or oleo
3 eggs, separated
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. soda
additional butter or oleo
Preparation

Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
Stir boiling water into cornmeal. Continue stirring until mixture is lukewarm.
Stir in 1 tablespoon butter and egg yolks until blended.
Stir in buttermilk, salt, sugar, baking powder and soda.
Beat egg whites until soft peaks form.
Fold into batter.
Pour into greased casserole.
Bake until knife inserted in center comes out clean, 45 to 50 minutes.
Serve hot with butter or oleo.
