Ingredients

1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 c. shortening
2 1/2 c. flour
2 eggs
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Mix all dry ingredients.
Cream shortening.
Add sugars, vanilla and eggs.
Mix well and then add dry ingredients.
Nuts, raisins or chocolate chips may be added.
Place on cookie sheet by spoonfuls.
Flatten with a fork.
Bake until light brown in low temperature oven.
