Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. molasses (unsulphured)
4 1/2 c. flour, sifted
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1 Tbsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream together shortening and sugar.
Beat in molasses and egg.
Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and ginger. Stir into molasses and sugar mixture.
Blend well.
Chill.
Roll out to 1/4-inch and cut into desired shapes.
Cool 5 minutes to firm before moving to rack.
Makes 2 dozen large cookies. Decorate with Fluffy Frosting.
