Ingredients

1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter, softened
1/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/3 c. granulated sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. very hot water
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preparation

Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
Sift together flour, soda and salt onto wax paper.
Beat butter, sugars and egg in large bowl with electric mixer until fluffy, about 3 minutes.
Beat in hot water and vanilla.
Gradually beat in flour mixture until blended and smooth.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Drop dough by well rounded measuring teaspoonfuls onto large greased baking sheet.
Bake in preheated 375\u00b0 oven for 10 minutes or until golden.
Cool on sheet on wire rack 1 minute.
Remove to wire rack to cool completely. Makes 3 dozen.
