Sugar Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening or butter (butter makes a richer cookie)
    1/2 c. margarine
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg, beaten
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine all ingredients in a normal fashion.
    Roll into small balls and put on an ungreased cookie sheet.
    Press down with a flat-bottom glass, dipped in water (first press) and then dipped in granulated sugar (second press).
    Repeat after every couple of cookies.
    Bake in a 375\u00b0 oven for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on how dark you like them.
    Undercook and leave on cookie sheet for a few minutes before removing for light color cookies.
    Ovens may vary and 350\u00b0 may be better if they are baking too fast.
