Sarah'S Sugar Crisps - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. shortening or margarine
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1/4 c. molasses
    1 egg
    2 tsp. soda
    2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. ginger
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    In large saucepan, melt shortening over low heat.
    Remove and let cool.
    Add sugar, molasses and egg; beat well.
    Sift together remaining dry ingredients; add to first mixture.
    Mix well and chill thoroughly (at least 2 hours).
    Form into 1-inch balls; roll in sugar.
    Place on greased cookie sheets 2 inches apart.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
    Makes 4 1/2 dozen delightful cookies. Flatten with glass which has been greased and dipped in sugar before baking.
