Mincemeat Cookies(About 1890, From My Mother'S Cookbook) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening, butter or butter-flavored Crisco
    1 c. packed brown sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 c. applesauce
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. lemon extract
    1 Tbsp. brandy (optional)
    dash of nutmeg
    2/3 c. mincemeat
    1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. milk
    1/2 to 2/3 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Cream shortening, add sugar and mix.
    Add egg, slightly beaten, and seasonings.
    Beat together until blended.
    Sift dry ingredients together; add mincemeat and nuts alternately with milk to first mixture.
    Drop by teaspoons onto an oiled cookie sheet leaving an inch or so between cookies.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes. Yields about 2 1/2 to 3 dozen cookies.
