Date Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. dates, chopped
    2 c. boiling water
    2 Tbsp. soda
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    3 c. flour
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
    2 eggs
    1 c. nuts
Preparation
    Pour boiling water with soda over the dates; let stand 1/2 hour.
    Add shortening, sugar, flour, vanilla, egg and nuts; mix well.
    Put into 2 greased loaf pans and bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
