Christmas Fruit Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    2 c. brown sugar
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. salt
    4 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 1/2 c. pecans
    2 c. candied cherries (half red and half green, cut in pieces)
    1 1/2 c. dates, cut in pieces
    1/2 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Mix sugar, butter and
    eggs
    thoroughly,
    then
    stir in buttermilk.
    Sift dry ingredients
    together and add to creamed mixture.
    Stir in fruit and nuts.
    Chill
    at
    least
    1 hour or overnight.
    Drop with teaspoon about 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet.
    Bake 8 to 10 minutes in 375\u00b0 oven.
