Ingredients

1/2 c. softened butter or other shortening
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 c. unsifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts
6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preparation

Beat butter, egg, sugars and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add dry ingredients; blend well.
Stir in nuts and chips.
Drop from teaspoon onto ungreased baking sheet, 2-inches apart.
Bake in moderate oven (375\u00b0) for 8 to 10 minutes.
Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
