Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1 c. finely diced apple, peeled
1/2 c. raisins, rinsed in hot water and drained
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. packed brown sugar
1 tsp. water
1 1/2 c. rolled oats
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation

Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and nutmeg in bowl.
Add shortening, brown sugar, egg and water.
Beat until thoroughly mixed, about 2 minutes.
Stir in apples, rolled oats and raisins. Mixture will be stiff.
Mix 2 tablespoons sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon together.
Pat level teaspoon of cookie dough into balls and roll in cinnamon sugar mixture.
Place 1 1/2-inches apart on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
