Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 large egg
1 c. canned pumpkin
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped pecans (optional)
Preparation

Beat shortening at medium speed until fluffy; gradually add sugar, beating well.
Add egg and pumpkin, mixing well.
Combine flour and next 4 ingredients; add to pumpkin mixture.
Stir in vanilla, chocolate chips and pecans.
Drop by tablespoons onto lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 13 minutes.
Remove to wire rack to cool completely.
