Irish Soda Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. raisins
1 egg (room temperature)
2 Tbsp. liquid shortening
1 1/2 c. buttermilk (room temperature)
Preparation

Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
Put first 6 ingredients in mixing bowl and stir.
Add eggs and shortening and stir.
Now gradually add buttermilk until you have a firm but not stiff dough (like a biscuit dough).
Put on lightly floured board and knead about 2 minutes until dough is smooth.
Flatten dough and put in a well-greased 9-inch layer cake pan.
Cut a 4-inch cross in the center.
Bake in oven set at 375\u00b0 for about 40 minutes.
